Westminster is widely considered the cultural hub of the Vietnamese American community, so it’s not surprising that it is home to Little Saigon. The oldest and largest Little Saigon in the country, Little Saigon Orange County features a 24-hour broadcast radio station and several local newspapers. The main draw of Little Saigon, however, is its large amount of authentic Vietnamese cuisine.
Little Saigon is lined with several shopping centers and strip malls featuring independently owned mom-and-pop restaurants that serve traditional cuisine including pho and noodles. There are over 200 such restaurants in the region as well as dozens of Vietnamese delis and bakeries that specialize in French-style coffee and baguette sandwiches, which are a nod to Vietnam’s colonial past. The area also offers several Vietnamese supermarkets, including the popular chain Shun Fat Supermarket. Spread across Westminster and neighboring Garden Grove Little Saigon offers visitors a chance to get a taste of authentic Vietnamese food and culture in the heart of Orange County.
